KANSAS CITY, Mo. —The coronavirus outbreak first started in Wuhan, China and has since spread across the globe, impacting Italy, Canada and the United States. The first case of COVID-19 in the United States was reported on January 14, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The number of cases in the United States began to spike late February and could continue to impact the country throughout the summer.

DES MOINES, Iowa —Iowa reported 31 additional COVID-19 deaths and another 1,276 new positive cases Wednesday.
The Iowa Department of Public Health reports there are 534 Iowans currently hospitalized with COVID-19, the highest number reported since the pandemic began. As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, the health department reported 109,573 total positive cases, 84,623 total recoveries and 1,579 total deaths since the pandemic began. The state reported 108,297 total cases and 1,548 total deaths 24 hours earlier.
